Random House Celebrated as New Zealand’s Top Publisher

Random House New Zealand took away two of the coveted Thorpe-Bowker awards at an industry cocktail function held at Te Papa, on Sunday 17 July. The company won both the ‘Publisher of the Year’ and ‘New Zealand Publishing’ awards.

Upon acceptance of the ‘Publisher of the Year Award’ Karen Ferns, Managing Director of Random House said  "I am very pleased that during a turbulent year of change within the industry RHNZ has, due to our energy focus and culture, retained the local publishing and overall publisher of the year awards just as we did in 2010."

Nicola Legat, Publishing Director proudly accepted the ‘Award for New Zealand Publishing’ and paid tribute to the whole company saying “It is such an honour to win this award, especially when the other finalists had published some terrific books. We couldn’t have done it without the fabulous sales, marketing, publicity and distribution team at Random House New Zealand that backs us up. It has been a tumultuous 12 months for publishers but we were determined not to lower our very high standards or to drop the ball.  Now, more than ever, publishers and booksellers need each other and we are determined to  keep publishing books that are the very best they can be.“

The Thorpe-Bowker Awards celebrate the best booksellers and publishers as voted by the industry.
