Celebrate Anzac Day at Te Papa and hear Matthew Wright speak about his new book Behind Enemy Lines: Kiwi Freedom Fighters in WWII

As part of the commemoration of Anzac Day at Te Papa, noted historian Matthew Wright discusses his new book Behind Enemy Lines. A collection of exciting Kiwi adventures behind the lines in World War II, the book shows just how extraordinary everyday New Zealand blokes could be.

With each story told by the soldiers themselves, the reader is taken on an emotional journey into desperate situations in which incredible acts of bravery occur in occupied territories. Some of the stories have never been told before.

The book also provides a layout of the war in each country, and shows how that affected the type of resistance that soldiers took part in.

Matthew Wright is the author of 42 books to date. He grew up in Hawke's Bay, but now lives in Wellington.
